In my own search of woo woo, I’ve read about a hundred books. This was in the top tier of all of them. The author is earnest in her pursuits, yet skeptical enough to relate to. Her hilarious observations, and self-depricating narrative along the way unfolded a great, entertaining story arc.Tags : What I Did On My Midlife Crisis Vacation [Debbianne DeRose] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Really enjoyed reading this book. Great writing style and interesting story.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about all of Debbianne's adventures. Every experience - a lesson learned. Debbianne's honesty and humor are delightfully refreshing. After a hectic work day, I enjoyed and looked forward to finding out what was going to happen next and experienced many laugh out loud moments. Hope there is a sequel in the works!
This book made me laugh the whole way through. Clearly and snappily written, filled with fun and interesting anecdotes, a clever and ironic look at the new age world!
If you've ever wondered about remote viewing, psychics, finding love thru fortune telling or anything in the mystical realm, chances are Debbianne has done it! Balanced with her wisdom and wild child, Debbianne takes the reader on an intimate, eye opening voyage thru her midlife crisis and spares no expense at the clever and funny details. I enjoyed every moment or this book, bravo!
A rollicking romp through the land of "Woo" in the company of an amiable narrator with the sharp eye of a scientist, the practicality of a re-builder of eccentric homes and the humor of a keen observer of the human condition. Treat yourself to this one. Enjoy yourself as our tour guide separates the real from the sacred cows that are better served as hamburger.
Debbianne DeRose's book What I Did On My Midlife Crisis Vacation is a hilarious and inspiring re-frame of the midlife crisis experience. Approaching her "middlescence" with boundless curiosity, a great sense of humor, and a desire to understand the big questions of life, DeRose takes us along on her journey to explore the metaphysical and physical nature of reality. I came away from this book with a huge smile on my face and a new way of looking at transition periods in life - what if they aren't crises but opportunities to create what I want? DeRose's book is truly a refreshing and unique read, which will make you laugh and ignite your curiosity at the same time. I HIGHLY recommend it!
An entertaining and informative exploration of one woman's metaphysical quest (her journey into the "woo") told in a humorous, fun-to-read voice.
I appreciate how Debbianne culls the gems of wisdom from each approach she explores, while keeping her eyes wide open to the risks of guru-worshipping or cultish behavior. She is in control of her journey and decides what to take and what to leave behind.
She weaves all of the take-aways into a lovely tapesty of self-empowerment and joy. She articulates this life philosophy beautifully in the last chapter. I especially loved that last chapter--words to live by, for sure!
